Her research combines field measurements with laboratory analyses. I sample young plumes at the crater rim to investigate the production of volcanic aerosol. This sampling is also performed downwind to evaluate how these aerosols are modified after emission. My work at Erebus volcano (Antarctica) showed for the first time the presence of bromine in aerosol from quiescent volcanoes. This discovery confirmed the mechanism by which quiescent plumes cause downwind ozone depletion.
Worked on: Mt Erebus, Antarctica; Masaya, Nicaraqua; Poás , Costa Rica; Aso and Miyakejima, Japan.
