Kelby was a Ph.D. researcher looking at the application of multiparameter monitoring at Volcán de Colima, Mexico to constrain eruption cycles. He was investingating the use of multiparameter monitoring for eruption forecasting and its usefulness during periods of volcanic crisis.

Kelby was found dead on fieldwork at Colima volcano, Mexico earlier this year. He died of apparently natural causes, heart failure, and was discovered next to his instrument at his remote field camp on the volcano.

CVG will keep him in its heart.
