Linda Cotterill

I am a Visiting Scholar to the dept, did my PhD on the mixed magma complexes of St Kilda, Ardnamurchan and Loch Ba, Mull in the 1980s at Cambridge, when I was Linda Marshall, supervised by Steve Sparks. Then worked for several years in metal exploration in Australia and USA, retrained as a chartered accountant and ran my own successful company for 26 years. Now retired and moved to Scotland I have returned, 40 years later, to geology (always my great passion) to write more papers from my thesis, which is still highly relevant today. I am also very pleased to be working with Frankie Butler on some joint papers, using geochemical data from my thesis to model these complexes. Please look at my Youtube talk on magma mixing in my thesis areas on the Edinburgh geology soc channel (15 January 2025). I look forward to meeting you all in 2026.
