Rosie Rice

My research seeks to explore the lessons that can be learnt from the 2021 Tajogaite eruption in La Palma, with a focus on incorporating social science methodologies and concepts into Volcanology. After spending a week in La Palma during the eruption communicating updates to the world’s media and conducting interviews, I have research the role of memory and attachment to place within the response to, and experience of the eruption for my undergrad and MPhil. I’ve worked part-time with GeoTenerife consulting on the ‘Lava Bombs: Truths behind the Volcano’ documentary, and writing a monthly article on the eruption and recovery using a human geography lens.

Rosie is one of the current group of conveners of the Cambridge Volcanology Group.
